Destination Wedding Photography: Emily and Daniel's Wedding at the Aphrodite Hills Hotel, Cyprus

Karen and i were very excited at the prospect of photographing Emily and Daniel's wedding at Aphrodite Hills, near Paphos in Cyprus.

We flew out of Gatwick before 7.00am on the Tuesday and enjoyed a relaxing flight to Paphos, Cyprus. Its is such a small world that we sat with two couples who had been guest at a wedding i shot in Eastbourne a few years back. They were attending another wedding at Aphrodite Hills, later in the week.

Once we settled into our stunning apartment, we walked back to the main hotel in the afternoon heat. Temperatures well in excess of 100 degrees were a welcome escape from the early British autumn.

Once at the Intercontinental Hotel, we soon met up with Emily and Danny and their wedding planners Natalie (who was based at the resort) and Artemis of Artkas. After a run through of the next day's celebration, we decided to relax and watch the magnificent sunset over a bottle of wine or two. Well you have to blend in with the other visitors!

The wedding day soon followed and one again the weather was HOT. We dressed to be able to cope with the heat and was soon into our stride once we arrived at Emily's suite. Until well after the ceremony, the light was extremely harsh but it also lead to some dramatically colourful images compared to my norm.

There followed a beautiful ceremony in the resort chapel and then drinks at the Sunset Bar. In the main the photography was very informal, mostly covering the real feel of the day.

The sunset was spectacular again and then we moved to the golf club for the wedding breakfast. We were entertained by traditional Cypriot dancers and then partied long into the early hours.

Unfortunately, due a full diary, we had to fly home Thursday lunchtime. The whole 48 hour trip was amazing and we both hope Emily and Danny enjoyed their wedding day as much as we did.
