Newborn Photography Sussex: Cordelia
I thought i would share with you some images from my shoot yesterday.
I called in to photography my beautiful new niece, Cordelia who was juts 12 days old!
All the images have been shot using a single small window to create the mood and processed using a warm monochrome action that i have developed especially for the job.

Wiston House Wedding Photographer: Sussex Wedding Photography: Lisa and Matthew's Wedding at Wiston House, West Sussex
My first wedding of 2012 took place at the amazing Wiston House, in West Sussex.
Lisa and Matt were married earlier in the week but i was asked to cover their "real wedding day" a Blessing in the beautiful church in the Wilton Park Estate.
The day was blessed with glorious sunshine which offered up challenging but dramatic lighting, especially when shooting outside into long angle sun. However, working in the winter light is a passion of mine and i always prefer to go with it rather than hiding away.
After the ceremony there followed a wonderful drink reception where we were entertained by the wonderfully talented harpist Fiona Hosford.
It was a really good wedding to kick off the year and it was lovely to work with my good friends from the "Wiston Dream Team". Flowers were by BO-K, Stationery and sweet buffet by Elegant Stationery, the amazing cake was made by Becky from Consumed by Cake and disco by Disco Fever.
I would also like to mention the amazing Amanda Dean and all the Wiston Staff who was stars as usual.
Here are a few moments of the day, all taken on my Nikon D3s using my 24-70 2.8. 180 2.8 and 10.5 2.8 lenses.

I have had a fisheye for years but always prefer to use it sparingly. However this scene was crying out for it!

Wedding Photographer Sussex: Images from My Workshop in Association with Park Cameras
Last week saw me speaking for Park Cameras at their training centre and Ashdown Park Hotel about wedding photography.
Blessed by a full attendance, my workshop was split into two days. Day one saw me teach and explain the ways of wedding photography, providing the tools to successfully build and run a profitable wedding photography business. This took place in Burgess Hill at Park Cameras superstore.
Day Two was on location at Ashdown Park Hotel, and included theory and practical sessions. Subjects including lighting, posing working indoors and when you are up against it. Our model, Chloe was brilliant as she put up with being photographed by me and then delegates as they tried out techniques i had been teaching during the day.
Feedback has been really good and i have received a number of very kind emails and messages including:
Hi Peter,
Thanks for a couple of very interesting and informative days at Park Cameras and then at Ashdown Park Hotel. I have learned a lot of useful ideas and gained loads of tips and thought your approach was both relaxed and stimulating. The way you work with light and attention to detail has been inspirational.
I have already shot a few weddings and am looking forward to putting some of your ideas into practice.
Once again, many thanks.
Phil.
Hi
I hope you are well.
I have not long been home from the two day seminar and thought I would let you know how I got on.
I found Peter to be very informative and very professional in his knowledge, delivery and friendliness. He answered any questions very well without speaking down to us which can often occur in similar circumstances. He was only too happy to share his knowledge and personal experiences with us. The mix of business training as well as photographic skills was well balanced. I left both days with my mind reeling with ideas and the start of business plans too.
The two days were very useful and provided me with skills useable in any photographic field not only Weddings.
The venues were ideal and the model very easy and professional to work with. I have only managed to download my shots and have a quick flick through but I have some shots I am very pleased with. I feel a lot more confident regarding wedding photography which is useful as I am doing one in July for a work colleagues niece!
I would recommend this course to anyone thinking of taking up wedding photography.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and take care.
Chris

Wedding Photographer Sussex: The Ashdown Park Hotel Wedding Showcase
I just wanted to draw your attention to this weekend's Wedding Showcase at one of the UK's leading wedding venues, the stunning Ashdown Park Hotel in East Sussex.
The Showcase is on Sunday 11th March, running from 10.30am to 4pm with complimentary entry. You can see full details here.
I will, of course, be exhibiting all day and can't wait to meet couples and help them to select the right photographer for their wedding.

The venue is perfect for almost any wedding, anytime of the year with beautiful grounds set within Ashdown Forest and one of the most dramatic interiors you will ever experience for the setting of a wedding breakfast.

Combined with superb, professional but friendly staff, APH is a must if you are planning a wedding and want to see some of the country's best wedding suppliers under one roof.

You read more about Ashdown Park weddings in a dedicated section of my blog here.

Wedding Photographer Sussex: First Wedding of the Year
Today sees me shoot my first wedding of 2012. Its been what seems a long time in coming but as much as i love photographing weddings, the few weeks break has been good.
I have managed to fully recharge my batteries, enjoy some quality family time and have even undertaken some personal projects for the first time in years! Its been good to have some non-wedding images to share here and the alternative "work" has enabled me to try different things and techniques, some of which can be adapted to become part of my wedding photography offerings as i constantly strive to evolve and improve year on year.
As the end of the week was approaching i have become restless, excited and eager for today to arrive. I took time to go back to basics as my wedding bag, a Think Tank Retrospective 10 hasn't been used in anger for a while.
It was time to unpack all my kit, give each lens a once over and clean and the same for the cameras, flash guns etc. All my batteries were discharged and recharged and the bag repacked just the way i like it on a wedding day.
My spares case, a Think Tank roller bag was also unpacked, checked and re packed for the first time in months so everything is tip top and ready for action.
The start of the wedding season always sees me excited and nervous at the same time and fortunately i have a great one to kick off the new year, at the wonderful Wiston House in West Sussex, one of my all time favourite venues. My couple are great and the team at Wiston are always welcoming, professional and superb. This should all help to make my day easier and fun and i can't wait to share some images with you in a week or so.
Its all too easy to become slack and complacent when preparing to photograph a wedding after having shot so many, so the break has been a good thing and i can't wait to go!
