Moto GP at Silverstone

I took Jacob and my nephew Taylor to the Moto GP at the revamped Silverstone Circuit on Sunday.

Originally the idea had been to finally see my hero Valentino Rossi in action for the first time, but unfortunately he suffered a compound fracture of his leg at the previous round and missed his first grand prix of his long career.

Despite this disappointment we set off at 4am and had a fabulous day out. The highlights being Scott Redding's recovery from a bad start to end up 4th in the Moto 2 race, Bradley Smith's third in the 125s and Espagaro's amazing save at Brooklands on the last lap (pictured below).

Lorenzo's master class in the Moto GP race was amazing and the race long dice for the podium between 5 riders enthralling. It was great to see Ben Spies get on the podium for the first time but i was gutted for spectacular Nicky Hayden, who ended up fourth for the fourth time in five races.

The only downside was the time it took to get out of the car park. When we returned to the car, there wasn't an official to be seen and it took us 90 minutes to drive the 150 yards from our space to the gate. There was a free for all to get out onto the road and i feel that this is inexcusable at such a terrific event.

Here a few images of the day.

  2. I have to say these are fab images Peter and now I know why the M40 was so slow on our way home from the Lakes!

  3. The traffic was compounded by an accident around Stokenchurch according to the radio.

Didn't ruin a fabulous day though.

  5. Thanks Peter.

I was gutted that the Doctor wasn't there but hope to see him on a Ducati in 2011.
