Motorsports Photographer: BSB at a Very Wet Brands Hatch

Every year i try to attend a round or two of the British Super Bike Championship at the amazing Brands Hatch, one of my favourite circuits.

Bikes and bike racing are a huge passion of mine and i grew up watching the likes of Barry Sheene from the early days of his career right up to his last year in Grand Prix.

Jacob and I decided to attend on Easter weekend, and of course after a superb March, it decided to rain hard all day on race day. Despite the cold and wet, there was a large crowd present and some exciting racing for most of the day.

I took along the D3s with my 180 f2.8 lens to see if i could capture anything through the catch fencing that encases the Indy Circuit.

We watched from the last series of corners as the bikes were lent over and the riders used their amazing skills to tip toe the bikes round as if on ice, before blasting through Clearways onto the start finish straight.

The spray hung in the air all the time and i have to say that camera and lens performed heroically throughout.

Sussex Commercial Photography: Harley-Davidson Back Covers

It has just been drawn to my attention that the images we shot for Shaw Harley-Davidson have been featured as full page back cover adverts for their award winning custom work in HOG Magazine.

Together with my good friend Phil, we were commissioned to shoot over 20 custom Hogs for the multi award winning dealership as they launched the Shaw Speed and Custom arm of their official H-D dealership.

As part of the project i also photographed the interior of the new custom meeting area for their VIP clients. This featured 2 metre high images from our earlier shoots.

You can view the Custom lounge images here.

Art Visage Harley-Davidson Images Published in 100% Biker Magazine

Just saw that some of the images that i shot with my good friend Phil, as part a commission for Shaw Harley-Davidson last year have been published again.

Over the past few months our images have appeared in a number of publications including Motor Cycle News, Bike, Ride, Motor Cycle Sport and Leisure, and now 100% Biker Magazine.

Here is the article about Steve Willis, the driving force behind Shaw H-D.

Harley Photographs Featured in MCN on on the RSD Blog

Here at Art Visage, we have been privileged to be the official photographers for Shaw Harley-Davidson's new Shaw Speed Shop project.

Last week at the Alexandra Palace Custom Bike Show in London, Shaw's hard work and skill was rewarded with 1st, 2nd and 4th places in the Modified Harley-Davidson custom build competition.

To celebrate this amazing achievement we were called in to photograph 4 of their stunning machines. Phil and i had a great day at the dealership and produced some fabulous images.

World famous publication, Motorcycle News then visited Shaw's and ran a 2 page feature about the Speed Shop and featured some of our images. It was a funny feeling seeing our work published in such an esteemed paper.

Then Steve called to tip me off that two of our images had been featured on world renowned custom bike guru Roland Sands' blog in the States

Here a few of the latest bike shots.

This won the show.

Full Page Ad for Hog Magazine

WOW!

Steve at Shaw Harley-Davidson just sent me the final ad that was designed using one of images from our shoot at the infinity studio in January.

This is going to be on the back cover of the Harley Owners Group magazine and to say we are very excited with the result is an understatement.

Its great to be working with such an iconic worldwide brand and the terrific team at Shaw H-D. We can't wait to get started on the next shoot!

Infinity Studio Shoot

We have just finished editing and putting together a biggest and most important shoot for Shaw Harley-Davidson to date.

The brief was to work on a James Bond theme to produce a stunning image for the back cover of HOG, the high quality Harley-Davidson owners club magazine.

Steve, the dealer principle had arranged for the shoot to take place at the amazing ASA Infinity Studio in Sussex and put together a close knit team to work on the project. Apart from Phil and I at Art Visage, we had Katie our model, the Lucy Meyer (make up artist) , Ministry of Hair and two stunning bikes.

The bike for the ad was a heavily customised Rocker C. Shaw H-D had produced this amazing machine for one of their clients and the results were breath taking. We also had to photograph an equally eye catching Johnny Cash tribute Harley which even had the signature of the Man in Black that it up as the stop light on the rear fender.

The snow had already brought about the postponement of the first attempt at the shoot but despite yet more snow, we all managed to get to the studio in the beautiful East Sussex countryside for a very exciting day.

The studio was superbly equipped and Phil and I felt like a couple of big kids in an over sized sweet shop. Every piece of kit that you might desire seemed to be on hand and the studio team were on hand to help whenever asked, be it for coffees or help with moving the lighting.

Once the we had set the lights to meet our requirements, the Rocker C was rolled in and placed on the remote controlled turn table.

Katie was prepared and then it was down to the hard work.

As I said the theme was very James Bond with the by-line “Shaw Harley-Davidson, Licensed to Thrill” being selected by Steve, who was on hand to make liaising with our client a doddle.

I have posted a few images of the day along with a few favourites that have made the short list for the ad designers. Hopefully we should see the results very soon.
