Isaac

Photographing babies is becoming a bit of a habit of late.

I had photographed Isaac for Dan and Helen when he was tiny and they decided that as he was now 6 months old already that they needed some up to date images of him.

They came to my home where i photographed this lovely little boy in my own distinctive style,by available light

Here are a couple of favourites.

For photographers, i used my trusty Nikon D300 and 17-55 2.8 lens and all images were shot at 4oo iso at f2.8 and f4. Shutter speeds were 1/60th to 1/125 sec.

Philippa and Ben's Wedding at Newick Park Hotel

My second wedding of the Easter weekend was at the beautiful Newick Park Hotel.

Phillipa and Ben wanted relaxed and low key photography at their wedding and i was happy to oblige.

Luckily the weather forecasters got things wrong and until late into the evening we were blessed with decent weather.

Here are a couple of moments from their day.

Charlotte and Paul's Wedding at Buxted Park Hotel

As is usual, Easter weekend gave us very mixed weather.

Charlotte and Paul's wedding was held at the stunnung, Buxted Park Hotel in East Sussex.

The weather was "mixed" but with a combination of fortunate timing of the rain and dramatic sunlight, i managed to capture some amazing images.

Nicky: Portraits of a Photographer

Work has been mad of late and since i launched the Art Visage Portrait Site
the interest in my non-wedding photography has been huge.

I was recently privileged to be commissioned to photograph fellow photographer, Nicky Thomas.

Nicky wanted some new portraits for professional and personal use, with the brief for them to be relaxed.

Here are a handful of my favourite shots from the session.

David Guthrie: A Tribute to a Friend.

Last week i heard the very sad news that my good friend David Guthrie has lost his battle against for life. It wasn't unexpected but its never easy to take when such an amazingly generous, fun, and indeed crazy person is taken away from his family and friends.

I only met him a couple of times but was privileged to room share with David at the first DWF Convention at Las Vegas in 2005. This was my first meeting with him and this was certainly the highlight of the 5 days there.

His love of life, boundless energy and enthusiasm was astounding: he was intent on making every second of his trip count. When i went to sleep, he was out and about and when i woke up, he was editing the photos he had taken the day before at his laptop. I am sure he never slept for the duration of the Convention.

I couldn't keep up with him but after a lot of persuading he finally convinced me to rise at 5am on our last day to walk around the Strip taking photographs of each other whilst Vegas was sleeping.

I remember us both laying on the ground in the Bellagio's shopping mall, photographing the ceilings whilst a security guard looked on in disbelief as two crazy Brits did their thing.

David was a major influence on my career and talked me through the painful steps that i had to take when i took the digital plunge back in 2005. His kindness and patience can never be repaid and his humour and mickey taking was legendary and will always stick in my mind.

I never heard him complain and he helped to keep my feet on the ground and maintain a sense of reality and passion for my work, whatever else was going on.

I have just heard about his funeral arrangements and if by magic, i have a weekend off, so will be driving to Yorkshire this Saturday to pay my respects to David and his family.

Here are few photos of David in action, Vegas March 2005...at the crack of dawn!

RIP David.
